Monday 24-05-2021 – Glostrup vs Hvidovre T20 Match

Weather conditions were beautiful and sunny with a clear blue sky. Glostrup played a mediocre innings and never got a proper momentum going. Hvidovre won the toss and decided to have a bowl. Glostrups batting started on track. Bilal and Usman opened the innings and added 25 to the scorecard in 5 overs. Usman felt uncomfortable on the crease and unfortunately, this resulted in him being caught out in over number 5. In came AJ who was now batting with Bilal. They managed an additional 1 run, before Bilal got caught at mid-off in over number 6. Next batsman to the crease was Bobby, who played some beautiful shots including a glorious four at deep midwicket.
The bad luck, however, continued for Glostrup, and it wasn’t long after that AJ had to see himself depart after being caught behind in over number 7. Sameer came in and was opposite of Bobby. A nervous back up from the non-strikers end resulted in Sameer being run out in over number 8. Glostrup 40-4 after 8 overs. Khurram and Bobby managed to add 13 runs in the next two overs before Bobby had to see himself depart after being caught. Hammad was next and managed to build a partnership of 24 runs with Khurram. The partnership saw Khurram hitting some beautiful fours around the field, as well as many singles and doubles supported by Hammad. Sadly, Glostrups luck came up short and Khurram had to depart after being caught. He added a valuable 27 runs to Glostrups total. The lack of momentum didn’t stop here, as Iftikhar (bowled), Subhan (lbw) and Arsalan (bowled) had to see themselves beaten by Hvidovre. Hammad and Ehsen (last wicket) managed to keep the game on until the final 3 balls, before Hammad was caught. Glostrup 99 all out.
Glostrups bowling started off very shaky by Sameer and Subhan, and Hvidovre managed to capitalize on this. Hvidovre 36-0 after 4 overs. In came AJ and Khurram from each end who managed to slow things down and created breakthroughs for the team. Hvidovre were struggling to play both bowlers. AJ ended with figures of 4over-21runs-3wickets including a marvellous catch by Bobbby at long off. Similar to yesterday, AJ did not let Glostrups low total affect his spirit, and once again, we witnessed an amazing fielding effort at cover, which saw the Hvidovre batsman having to depart.
Khurram ended with figures of 4overs-21-runs-1wicket. After 12 overs, Hvidovre had a total of 78-4 and needed 22 to win. Arsalan and Bobby came in from each end, but unfortunately, due to Glostrups low total, Hvidovre managed to cross the line in the 14th over. MOM goes to AJ for his brilliant fielding and bowling performance. Next match will be after agreement with Svanholm as the match was cancelled due to corona.
